My desire to paint is founded in the love of Nature. I am an exuberant recluse with an analytical eye, and I hope my paintings reveal this. I am most interested in locations of solitude, in any geography, and losing myself in the act of looking outward. I strive for accuracy in drawing, and freshness and looseness in the painting.
Painting outdoors is an adventure and a sport, both great for the attitude. I am very fortunate to be able to share this painter’s life with my best friend and husband, John Iwerks. Wherever we go, it’s a painting trip. Our entire relationship has been intertwined with the art spirit Robert Henri wrote about,
Joining with other artists to help preserve open spaces is uplifting and gratifying.
Through art, I have found my dearest friends and my own self-realization. It is a rich life.
